Farewell Maud

Dear little Maud, I am sure though she had a very good home with Debbie, but so sad for Debbie and Silas to have to say goodbye. Makes me feel guilty about the Guinea Pigs I had, I can still hear Jeremy squeaking as I took him his food.

Silas is taking this very hard, he refuses to even look at the other two piggies , just wants to be left alone . Ironic that today, his year tutor has been on the phone to Debbie, voicing her concern about him , his work is good but his autism is off the scale and he is having meltdowns , so this loss will make things worse for the poor lad , feeling very sad for him x

I feel so very sad for Silas, it must be a worry for you and Debbie. Does he have 'spikes' in the autism, perhaps a long time out with Reuben could help?
The problem is that Silas does not have a good relationship with Reuben . He has never really taken to him even though Reubs adores him , he doesnt want to go walks with us any more and is quite indifferent to Reuben , not in a nasty way, just an indifference . I cant force the issue of course , but its a shame that he cannot get past Sam xxx

Oh, poor Silas and Debbie, a difficult time all round. I had Guinea pigs as a child, they were my dog substitutes, I wasn't allowed a dog, for all the right reasons. Whenever one died I was every bit as devastated as I am when I lose a dog now. I do feel for them, and you.xxx

Oh Kate, I am sorry, I had seen that photo of Silas and Reuben and we thought he was getting closer to Reuben. You can't force the relationship sadly, he feels as he feels. Would he take to a new pet, a guinea pig he chose or a rabbit that he could care for all on his own?

I honestly dont think he would take to another pet . Dont get me wrong, he occasional interacts with Reuben but I know without a shadow of a doubt that he only ever loved one dog , Sam .
Autism makes it difficult for Silas to cope with emotions , joy and sadness alike , he remains distant , all we can do is to support Debbie in coping with him , which is so hard as she isnt in the best of health, but we are here x

So sad and difficult for Silas, I hope he can cope with the loss in his own way. ❤
Guinea Pigs are such cute little things but one of the few animals I never had :(
