Don't worry, the plot has not been lost! I promised Mags@Boogie that I would keep her updated on my latest travel adventure, which has just started, and this mnemonic is the only way I can remember the countries I'm visiting in the right order! It stands for:
France, Italy, Austria, Croatia, Serbia, Bulgaria, Turkey. It's basically a journey from London to Istanbul by train, over a two week period, stopping off to see different places of interest en route. @JES72 did something similar (although not exactly the same route) last year, or maybe the year before. Here I am in a hotel at King's Cross, ready for an earlyish start tomorrow, which shouldn't be a problem as here is the view from the hotel!
(That's the station, for those of you who aren't familiar with it.)
GGJ is staying with her friend Alice, a sweet and lovely Golden Retriever, quite small, just the same size as her. They love each other Veryvery much, so I think she'll have a lovely time. In the meantime I'm counting down the days till I see her again, but am nevertheless very excited about this trip. It's strange to be back in London. I lived here in my twenties and thought I'd never want to leave, but although it's nice to be back briefly I really wouldn't want to live here now. The night air smells of traffic fumes and restaurant food, whereas at home in summer it smells of Honeysuckle and Jasmine, and the sounds are of traffic, rather than wind!
Anyway, it's nice to have you all to chat to, I'm feeling a bit too wide awake at the moment, but I'm sure I'll sleep soon. Updates to follow in due course.
