Oh shizen, I just looked up at the news on the telly and there was a map with our suburb as one of the top 5 places at risk today. I had no idea

It will be because we have the huge National Park a couple of km away but should be ok here

I don't want to go to work!

Unfortunately we are doing face to face training of the business users so I can't do that remotely. I am a contractor too so I have to be a bit careful with my actions so I'm a bit stuck. They are generally so good about flex working so I can't complain; it's just bad timing

The boys will be fine, it's only a miniscule chance that anything will flare up near us

At least the training is casual dress so I'm in cool clothes for the 37 degree day

We have just arrived after a really good flight. Rowan LOVED Sydney airport for some strange reason, had a bottle and passed out for ten hours.

The bushfire situation is horrendous and our deputy Prime Minister says it has nothing to do with climate change... Hope your place stays very safe @Lab_adore. Our house is nowhere near significant fires, but Chewie is boarding on the city fringes- though it is a very green area and relatively low risk. Will be keeping an eye out though.

Thinking of all of you in Oz, I hope your place stays safe @Lab_adore - and above all, your boys are okay and comfortable. The smoke must be horrible apart from anything else.

Really pleased to hear you had a good flight @MrChew , and Rowan is clearly a seasoned traveler baby now ;) hope Chewie’s farm stays cool and smoke free, that’d be a worry you could do without.

So glad Rowan was so lovely and settled for your flight @MrChew - what a relief that must have been. I hope you have a wonderful holiday.

Oh yes @Granca , all the doors and windows are shut and no washing hanging outside. OH will have to keep Maxx amused indoors with games and training. It will be so hot I'm sure he will sleep most of the day anyway. Unfortunately he loves the sun and will ask to go out to lie in it but we have to discourage it of course.

When we trooped out to the car at 7.00am even Maxx stopped and look around as if to say 'why is it all smoky Mum and Dad?'

@Lab_adore hope you are staying safe - the news looks really scary. I'm hundreds of kilometres away from the fires here in Northern California, but the air here is still bad news - very hazy every day and you can see the smoke just hanging in the air. I can't imagine what it's like trying to breathe as close to the fire as you are.

@MrChew glad to hear you arrived safely and that little Rowan was a star!

I just walked out of the building for my lunch time walk, gasped, and walked back in. Awful - hot, smoky and very windy. Not looking forward to the commute home in a few hours. But so far no fires near us thankfully but lots of terrifying ones up north sadly

I’ve been watching the news and it looks terrifying. I remember those devastating fires in Canberra and I can’t imagine anything worse. And I remember when I was living in Darling Point (central city Sydney) and had ash coming in through my windows from fires far away. But they say these are the worst.

Wishing you all Down Under a very safe time. xxx
