It depends on the dog. The girls hardly moult at all, so it only does anything when they're having their seasonal sheds. Shadow is a 24/7 moulter, so I could pick it up any time and get handfuls out of him. I only groom them during their seasonal moults as it doesn't do their coats any good if I do it regularly. I find they end up with dry skin and lose their gloss.I've got one (Maisy has I mean) but I don't seem to get much out with it. I suppose I should use it more than once a month?
So funny, because I have one of these for myself (a life saver when my hair was long) and I tried it out on the dogs after you mentioned it one time before - it did nothing at all! Granted, I didn't try it when they were in full shed, but Shadow always has hair and even with him, it did nothing. The gaps seemed to be too big, and because it doesn't have anything for the hair to grip to (which is sort of the point of it), it seemed that they'd have to be shedding loads for it to do anythingI use a human âtangle teaserâ and it really does the trick.
That looks brilliant! It's weird that it does nothing for my lot. I wouldn't expect it to for Luna or Willow right now, as even the Furminator (knock-off) wouldn't get anything out of them, but I can pull hair out of Shadow, and it does nothing!I find all the fur really sticks to it - no flying fur at all, I can groom them indoors no problem.
This is from a 30 second groom of Tatze just now - it seems to get all the loose undercoat without affecting the topcoat. I empty the brush about five times per groom, which takes about five minutes for Tatze.
