Sorry for the delay! It’s been a busy busy day. We have had some play time and lots of nap time! He’s eaten some kibble and he didn’t swallow it all in one gulp, he chewed each piece individually, I’m sorry… what?! Haha! Axel inhaled his food from day one so that’s what I was expecting.

He is confident, very gentle, and sweet and oh so adorable. He was the biggest of the litter at their vaccination/wellness vet appt today 8 weeks and weighing 7.6kg! Little chonk I can’t wait to watch him learn about the world and grow in to a handsome big boy

Oh and Gizmo and Hugo had a few sniffs nose to nose. Gizmo is quite put off but handling things well all thanks to the fact Hugo was very respectful. So I hope things go smoothly in that department

We got our first boy Benson when our cat Oscar was about 1. After a very short time (where Benson learnt who was boss) they became great friends and even worked together to get us out of bed for breakfast! Benson was so sad for a long while when we lost Oscar

I'm sure Gizmo, being a very smart kitty, will soon sort Mr Hugo out and they will be great friends too

Ok so night one is not going well. He HATES being locked in the crate. I put his food in there and toys and he worked himself up to the point I took him out cuz it was breaking my heart. So now I’m camped on the couch and he’s passed out on the floor beside the couch. Unfortunately I only had a brief amount of time before bed to introduce him to the crate and he was doing well, lied in it with the door open, played with his toy, ate some food. But only when I was in eye sight. Hopefully I haven’t ruined it for him… any tips please send my way. Axel took to it instantly so this is new territory for sure.

He’s absolutely gorgeous!
Maybe he’ll take time to adjust to the crate. Put treats in it during the day, but leave the door open so he can go in and out. Perhaps pop him in when he’s had a good play and is tired, then shut the door for a short while, but stay in the room or leave a radio on? Have you put a cover over it to make it like a little den? That might help too. I hope you don’t have to spend too long on the couch!

Oh I've fallen for Hugo hook, line and sinker . I couldn't be happier for you @Kelsey&Axel and us of course, always good to have a puppy on MLF.

Oh Hugo is gorgeous! I've had each puppy in my bedroom for the first few nights/ few weeks so we both got some sleep and then later transitioned them downstairs. It's great you've got time off work - you can catch up on sleep when Hugo drops off during the day. x

Ohhh he’s delicious!! Hi gorgeous Hugo.

Stanley hated the crate and I mean hated it. He also hated us being out of his sight. We had to build it up really slowly. So we would walk out room then straight back in and reward him. Then build it up 10 seconds, 15 seconds etc. when we got to 5 minutes he was fine after that but I remember being really stressed at the time x
