Galliprant for arthritis

UK Tour Guide
I don’t have any experience of Galliprant but I can understand your reticence introducing a new drug when there is incontinence. Sky who was not quite 13 when we let her go, had arthritis, was on metacam and tramadol (which zoned her out and we couldn’t increase). She was also incontinent during the day. With her though she was showing all the signs of dementia which was distressing to watch.

Cimalgex 80 mg
Not personally.
I hadn't heard of it but googling shows it is a COX II inhibitor, so I think in the same group as Previcox, which we have used.
It is a NSAID. Kinder on the stomach than metacam.
Lilly was on Previcox for years and did very well with it. Had to stop it when she went onto steroids for her lupus.
I don't know if there is anything special to know about Cimalgex, but most NSAIDS work best if they are taken for a few days continually rather than just one now and again.

Kipper’s now on Cimalgex and has responded well - he had significant joint inflammation before we started it, which librela didn’t seem to really reduce - and with a history of GI problems from non-selective COX inhibitors, Cilmalgex seemed a clear option (although hadn’t been suggested previously - maybe it’s less common in the UK?).

How do you give Kipper this. We have been told 4 days on, but not sure when start the tablets again.
We give this as tablets once a day no breaks. I think ask your vet (give them a call?) as there are a few different ways of dosing, including short windows with a break.
