Ginny's in season!

Ginny is quite bonkers.

She's not very settled at night at the moment; she had me up at 2am crying. In the end, I let her out and she did need a wee, which is very unlike her because she has, as my sister put it, "the bladder of a staff nurse". She then woke me up at 6am running around the bedroom like a lunatic, so I decided to start my day and let all the dogs out. She had a play with Squidge, which is the first time she's ever done that. I think she's a bit uncomfortable "down there" and her hormones are playing havoc with her mind.

She tried to do her little barking thing, which she's not done since we first brought her back - she starts to whine, and gradually builds to a persistent bark. I just turned away from her and she gave up immediately and jumped on Squidge instead. She has no appetite, which is so alien to me! I managed to get her meds down her in sardines this morning, but other than that, she's really not interested in eating. On the other hand, I gave them all a chew yesterday to keep them quiet during a call. Big ones for Willow and Squidge, an easier trachea for her, because of her bad teeth. She finished hers off and then grabbed the chew Squidge had in her mouth! That's Luna behaviour, not Ginny behaviour!! They were running around, each holding onto the same chew, until I took it off them and gave it back to Squidge - and got Ginny her own. :wasntme:

I'm hoping this is as mad as she gets.

Hoping with you - this is tricky, particularly since it's sounds so out of character! Poor Ginny, it probably is all a bit of a mindf**k for her with hormones, possibly aches and pains and strange impulses to deal with. At least there's noone better to help her through it, although you might be a tad frazzled by the end of it...

Goodness! What a time you are all having.
Has she put on a lot of weight? I'm wondering if better food etc has brought her season on for the first time, and kennel conditions stopped it. Just musing....

Poor girl, this must all be really confusing to her...not to mention a surprise to Squidge! Hopefully it will be over and done soon.

I bet @Jacqui-S is on to something with the food though. The free feeding in the shelter can mean a lot of food, but not necessarily good food. Now that she's leaner and healthy, she seems to be 'de-ageing' in every way...including having a season.
