A lovely testimony from a Guide Dog owner -

I’ve recently read a post in here from a GDO praising her wonderful dog for finding a coffee shop they had not attended in 15 months and I thought I would share one of my experiences with Pasco. This actually occurred pre-pandemic, when the world was “normal. “ of course that statement is up for debate LOL. Anyway, we were at a caravan park and had only been there for a few hours. Suitcase was unpacked, Pasco had done his usual once over of the property and deemed it satisfactory, so I popped to the clubhouse for a drink. The bar itself was quite a distance from the caravan but it was easy to locate.

After a couple of drinks it was time to head back. Checking his harness, picking up the handle, we were off. “Find home “, I said. Weaving through crowds, following pathways and safely crossing roads felt so good. We glided past various caravans and turned in different directions until I heard the Familiar Sound of front paws landing on the steps to our caravan. I have no shame in admitting that this was probably one of the most emotional moments of our partnership up to that point. We had only been at the park for a few hours and had only done that route the one way. It is certainly safe to say that traversing this route with my white cane would’ve been a lot more difficult and took much more time.

I don’t expect anyone who doesn’t have a visual impairment to fully understand the impact a guide dog can have on the lives of those who do and it would be unfair to expect them to but this is just one story of many. An individual example of how Pasco has changed my life. I am just one person and there are thousands of GDO’s out there all of whom have stories of their own.

So The next time your puppy behaves like a little devil, you question whether the sleepless nights are all worth it, or all the tears you shed when the puppy snatcher arrives to break your heart and you question if you can put yourself through all of it again please remember that you are appreciated more than you know. For every working dog bringing independence has a piece of your love beating in its heart :)
And here is the lovely Pasco -

That final paragraph sums it all up so well. We can't even begin to imagine the independence that guide dogs bring to their owners.

Met Nutmeg last night. She is at our neighbours GD boot camp., aka temporary fosterer. Has lost 11lbs and now fit as a fiddle and shortly going back for some retraining then hopefully back to her owner! I think she was removed as she was terribly overweight and had pancreatitis.
This is C's 2nd GD foster job, the first one was retired, also overweight, and went on to a new home to live as a pet with an older lady in Aberdeenshire.
GR/lab crosses do shed, don't they! 😂

Oooo he's beautiful. Tatze looks very happy in the photo where they are together. I know you say she doesn't really care, but I wonder if she's been secretly missing having a pup around too?
Milo is certainly keeping her busy so she asks for far less attention.

Tatze still smells of dog shampoo as, when we were away, she jumped in the canal resulting in her first ever bath!
