Why not using cold boiled water? You can even flush the eyes with it. Be careful that you wash it towards the nose....

If not effective contact the vet. He/she can easily find out if there is a tear!

Actually I just rang the vet associated with the insurance, a free advice service and they said the same thing. They also said that any discharge other than white should be seen by the vet as it indicates infection. So I was planning to pop to the vets tomorrow.

But guess what, I just collected the little tinker from a friend where she has been playing for a few hours and her eye is fine.
I will bath it anyway, keep trying to get ointment for next time (proving hard to get hold of) and see how it is tomorrow.

This morning the eye seems to be ok again, I will keep cleaning it though and I've ordered some Lubrithal ointment from petdrugsonline - thanks to @SwampDonkey for that tip on another thread - wow, they have got a lot of stuff.
