Harley & paramedics

About 5 mins after I got up this morning I had a huge hot flush and severe stabbing pains in my right hand side of my chest. My breathing was erratic and I couldn’t catch my breath. I led down for over an hour but the pain didn’t subside so I called the gp who called me back an hour later. Next thing I know is an ambulance has been called and was on its way. Harley hadn’t left my side all morning and kept licking my face. My OH was at work so I called and told him to come home ASAP. The paramedics arrived and I tried to get Harley in the kitchen, but she refused to leave me. The paramedics were great and were happy for her to be in the room once I reassured them that even though she would bark, she was highly unlikely to bite. She did bark for a few mins until one started to smooth her and spoke really gently to her. When they started attaching wires etc to me, she got on the sofa next to me and kept licking me and looking at me as if to say ‘it’s all ok, I’m here’. She wouldn’t leave my side until my OH got home and 2 mins later my dog Walker arrived to take her out.
I spent from 10.15am-3.30pm at the hospital, and am now home. They ruled out a stroke, heart attack and blood clot which is good. It seems I have torn a muscle behind my right shoulder somehow. It’s agony everytime I move, but Harley is back home looking after me. My dog walker really is an angel as they kept her until around 4pm.
I am so proud of Harley as I know she was stressed with strangers in the house and especially because they were touching me. She was barking, then panting, but so gentle.

How touching! So lovely to have such a caring dog. I fell in the garden the other day—my foot rolled off the edge of a paver. Fell in a heap and twisted my ankle. Very painful. Snowie couldn’t care less! Carried on with his own business while I moaned. I think you’re very lucky to have such a concerned dog!

I’m very happy your pain wasn't life threatening. But it must’ve been very scary for you at the time. Speedy recovery with the torn muscle.

Oh @Naya , what a scary experience. Huge relief the worst has been ruled out, and it sounds like Harley was a superstar. Fabulous girl - but also well done you for keeping an eye on her and helping her stay in control. You’re a brilliant team xxx

So glad you are ok (as far as all the really bad stuff goes). What a beautiful girl Harley is 💜💜💜💜

The worst pain I’ve had was from a torn chest (rib) muscle. Had to have a fentanyl injection. Do you have decent painkillers?

Glad you are back home Ternaya and Harley is with you. Such a good girl. Hope you feel better soon.

Well done, Harley! I hope you feel better soon, Naya. That must have been very scary. Take it easy, though, as torn muscles take time to heal.
