Thought I would start a thread, rather than adding to the feeling down thread.

We went back to the vets yesterday as antibiotics have finished and she’s been on metacam for 2 weeks. Harley is still limping and her head constantly nods when she walks. She still wants to go for walks, but after about 45 mins you can see that she’s struggling. She still wants to play, but not as enthusiastically as usual.

Vets have suggested an X-ray on her paw and shoulder as concerned about how she’s walking. I managed to get a video of her walking so they could see it better. She’s going in Monday morning for the xrays and whilst she’s under anaesthetic they are going to do needle aspiration on the lumps as they also have not gone down at all. The good thing is that they haven’t grown, but I feel I need to know what they are for peace of mind.

As I’ve said before, Harley is really wary of the vets and it’s taken us so long to get her to go into the consultation rooms and not sit herself in the corner or behind me. She had surgery about a month ago on her paw and they had to call me to collect her within ha,f hour of her coming around as she was so distressed. I’m really worried about how she’s going to be on Monday when I leave her there.

This is such an awful worry for you @Naya I agree, you need to know exactly what is going on with these symptoms and have a plan. I truly hope Harley will cope at the vets and will keep everything crossed for you all. If I were you I would take Kate @Beanwood up on her lovely offer of a cuppa. Sending lots of love xxx :hug:

Oh, Ternaya, I'm so sorry. We'll be thinking of you on Monday and crossing everything for a good outcome and that Harley copes well in the vets. You are doing everything you can.
Hugs

Such a shame, poor little Harley. Can the vet keep her slightly sedated to prevent her becoming so anxious or would you rather not have that? You're doing your absolute best for her @Naya . I know it's so frustrating and upsetting when things just don't improve - went through that with BJ - so I do understand.
We'll be thinking of you on Monday for the appt. and hoping things can be improved for Harley x

Thanks all. I am going to ask if I can stay with her until she’s sedated. They allowed it before, so hopefully will again. I have to go into work for a few hours after I drop her off, but can leave whenever the vets call.
We had a nice wet but calm walk today and no other dogs in sight. We managed 45 mins before I could see her struggling so we came home to lots of snuggles.

I’m so sorry to read this. So upsetting for you. I hope they quickly work out what’s wrong so they can make her better quickly. Best of luck. I’m sure you won’t be able to focus on any work at all, but hopefully it will take your mind off things while you wait.

They should sedate Harley as soon as she is admitted. If possible you could perhaps be a little late for work and sit with her until the sedation has worked.
Absolutely. I’m supposed to be interviewing at 9.30am, but I’ve contacted my team and asked them to go ahead without me as I will be late in. One of the perks of being a Senior Manager and the only person I answer to (CEO) is on holiday 😀

So sorry @Naya to read this, poor dear Harley. It's so lovely having her gorgeous face on my wall this month. Cassie would be sad I'm sure if she knew that her very special friend and mentor is having such a rough patch.
I hope that things go as smoothly as possible on Monday and that you get some answers. Take up @Beanwood 's offer :)
