Harv the child whisperer

I often walk Harv to our local garden centre. He loves it there - in large part, I suspect, because all of the staff there love him and shower him with attention.

Today we were doing our usual 'being calm while the customers walk by' when we heard a banshee wailing. As we cringed, feeling as though our ears may soon start to bleed, the banshee came closer. It had taken the form of a young girl in a pushchair - an embarrassed and exhausted looking mother pushing it along. As they came closer the mother, with a mixture of hope and desparation, picked the banshee up and carried it towards us saying 'Look, it's a doggie.'

The wailing lessened as the banshee looked at Harv. Sensing that he was now the centre of attention Harv stood up and engaged his tail-wagging motor at full speed. The mother mouthed an 'Is it ok?' to me and I nodded. Miraculously the banshee vanished and a smiling little girl appeared. The mother put her down in front of Harv - we each kept an eye on our respective charges for any sign of trouble but there was none. The little girl reached out and tugged on Harv's ears with her little hands. Harv responded by pushing his cold nose to hers, which prompted a giggle of glee. The mother allowed this to continue for a while (presumably to ensure that the banshee really had gone) and then said 'Thank you so much.' before putting the little girl back in the pushchair and resuming their journey.

I gave Harv lots of treats and told him what a good boy he was. The grin on his face told me that he already knew this. :happyfeet:
