Hattie's Had a Mini Stroke :’(

The vet just called. If Hattie hasn't had a wee by 4 pm we might have to take her in to go on a drip. @Heidrun I mentioned Vestibular Syndrome, that's what she said it could be, apparently she mentioned this yesterday but I am not taking much in with worry and upset. I asked about antibiotics she said they would not normally prescribe for this. I'm confused. xxx

Antibiotics would only be necessary if the vet thought there is an underlying inner ear infection. Inner ear infection can cause a vestibular attack but quite often the cause is never known. I don’t know for sure what caused Alice’s attack. But if Hattie has to go into the vets it might be a good idea for the vet to check her ears and rule out an inner ear infection.

Thanks @Heidrun It seems odd that she didn't check Hattie's ears if this is a cause of vestibular. I will get her to check. David got her some cans of Royal Canine Renal wet dog food which is the equivalent of the kibble she is on, so hopefully that will encourage her to eat a little more. xx

I remember coming home from work and finding our Jazzmynn sprawled out on the floor, much like Bambi. Her head was cocked, and she looked in a complete daze. My first thought was stroke as well. I picked her up, placed her to stand and she immediately fell over. I managed to get her outside using a towel for a sling, and let her lie in the cool grass for a bit. It was absolutely horrible to see her like that. I sat with her, and after an hour or more she tried to get up, no success. When she finally did manage it, she walked like a drunkard and fell over numerous times. So sad to watch. She did make a full recovery though. Fingers are crossed for some improvement in Hattie very soon.

Oh @Charlie I am so sorry. It must have been so scary for all of you and I completely understand that it is hard to absorb information from the vet.
Fingers and paws crossed that the wet food might get her to eat.

Update. Hattie still hadn't had a wee by 4.00 pm so the vet wanted her in. They scanned her bladder which was full, they manually expressed the urine so she's much more comfortable. Checked her ears for infection, absolutely nothing at all. She is standing and by some miracle when David came back she walked from our back door through to my bedroom to reach me, bless her The vet said it is a stroke and not vestibular. The vet feels positive about Hattie's improvement saying she is doing well. Blood results not back. She is eating the wet food with gusto, she's such a clean girl she is grooming herself. We must get 1/2 litre of water in to her which we are well on the way to doing. Feeling a little hopeful. She's a tough lady xxx
