Thanks everyone! It's nice to be here, surrounded by lovely dogs and the humans that serve them 
Also, Brodie has been a very tiring puppy. A puppy thread for him would have been massive, he has been a constant source of drama and worry and vet visits! It's taken lots of work and effort to get him to the stage that he's now at, where he and Jess get along, we can have safe and reliable off-lead walks and he is reasonably well-behaved in the house. I think I'm now just a bit knackered and can't be bothered putting in the work to fix his remaining bad habits because they aren't immediately dangerous.....And because he has very sweet and soulful brown eyes and is always able to convince me that he really didn't mean to do the wrong thing, but was just so excited he couldn't help himself....
Anyway, thanks for all the welcomes, I expect I shall be whining and wining in the bar shortly
Yes, that sums it up. My training mojo is very flat right now. I will have to take myself off to the whine bar and add my grumbles. I have lots to be grateful for but there's a bit of exhaustion that maybe lots of people are feeling when our lives have changed so much.

Yes, kind of - this works to get him to retrieve a ball - he'll bring one back if he sees that I have another one. But he also knows that game will eventually stop and both tennis balls will be taken away so he tries to pre-empt that moment after a few throws and starts playing keep away, which is very annoying. And I can't just leave him with the tennis balls because he eats them! (eating things he shouldn't has been one of his biggest puppy problems) I did wonder if it might work to flood him with abundance, to leave dozens of tennis balls with him all the time so that they are no longer exciting. But Jess then gets jealous and tries to gather all the balls and stop him from getting them, which raises their value (and encourages her to resource guard). So i don't really know. I'm stumped!
