Hello from me and my team

UK Tour Guide
Hello I am Alison. I live with DH in a village in North Cambridgeshire, UK. I am 68 and retired so spend a lot of time with Sky an 11 year old black Lab and Red an 18 month old yellow (but mostly red coloured) Lab. I had a bad case of the puppy blues last year partly because Sky didn’t want anything to do with Red but also sleep deprivation and the sheer physicality of a little crocopup had a huge impact on me. All good now though.9E6A529A-2CF4-41CB-8DDA-036D90A78005.jpeg

I'm Sophie (autocorrect always wants to correct that to "doggie"), I'm 35 and live in Wellington, New Zealand with my OH and 10 year old daughter. We also have two very timid cats and two chooks. Xena is our first dog. I'd wanted a dog since I was a kid, but was unprepared for the reality of a lab puppy - it's not like a Buzzfeed video! I would not have made it through without the support of this forum, the support was invaluable.

Hi I'm Sarah or swampy I have one lab at the moment, Rory. I'm 51 but only 1 really.
I've had labs for about 20 years and raised them all without the benefit of a forum like this. When I got it Rory I decided that I would train/raise him as I wanted to. Rory was a little different to my other 2 he needed a very calm gentle hand and more patience.

It was all about praise love and respect. My other 2 had showed me how to have a good life with my labs and i wanted do that with Rory. That's what I did and Rory turned out pretty well, then I found the forum (tlf) and found out other people were doing it too. I didn't think Id stay for long, but I did and all the kind people supported me through the death of my 2 older dogs.
This forum feels good I hope I stick around. It's nice to be around people who understand dogs treat them with respect and kindness.
I'm planning a new pup soon.
I live in Leicester I don't like it. It's too flat and dry I need more rain.

Hello! My name is Kelsey, I’m 28 and my chocolate boy Axel is 2. We live in The Okanagan in British Columbia. I did have a new chocolate puppy lined up from Axel’s breeder for early next year but I have had to put that to a stop after a sudden change in my marriage.. aka divorce!

But that’s ok, these last four months have really brought Axel and I closer together, more than I ever thought imaginable. Between losing my dear Odie mid February, to then finding out my husband is leaving me early March, it hasn’t exactly been the best of years. But none the less I powered through with my best boy right by my side :giggle:

I’m looking into some fun new classes to try with him too, either Scent Work or a Tricks class. Very excited to give that a go!

What a double whammy for you! So glad you have Axel by your side, I’ve no doubt he’s been a great comfort /hugs

In all of the excitement of the new forum I completely forgot my introduction! I’m Nick, 53, and live in Yorkshire with my OH and Pepper is our first dog. We’re both semi retired and very glad we are given the lack of sleep over the last couple of months!

We’ve spent the last couple of years researching breeders and finally brought Pepper home at the beginning of May. The insight and experience from everyone here helped prepare us for the arrival of our bundle of mischief!

@Kelsey&Axel sorry to hear about your horrible start to the year - but it can only get better from hereon in. It sucks when we are going through these things, but you come out the other side bigger and stronger than you were before. Once all the crappiness is over, you feel sort of clean and fresh. Maybe it's like a mud bath.

I can't believe you left Gizmo out of your welcome post, and now I think we deserve the Axel-and-Gizmo play bitey-face photo in recompense.

Hi I'm Sue and I live on the Isle of Man with Coco, a German Shepherd x Labrador and my OH, Ed. We moved from the Wirral to our dream holiday island some 10 years ago now, with our rescue girl Belle (our first dog) - she certainly landed on her feet - from the streets of Birkenhead and the dog pound to this beautiful place. Then we adopted Scooby, an older Lab, from a friend of OH's - Scooby's drug-dealing owner had taken him to he vets to be PTS. The vet wouldn't do it and re-homed him - unfortunately Scooby and one of the many dogs in their rescue-pack didn't get on. OH had previously made a "joke" - "if you ever need to re-home him...." And so Scooby turned up one Saturday night - and Scooby is how come I met you guys :) Scooby is also how come we ended up adopting Coco. I owe him such a lot.

I’m Joy and I live on the coast in East Sussex. I’m just 60 but retired early from primary school teaching. I only have one dog at a time and as an adult have had a Springer Spaniel (adult rescue), a Cocker Spaniel ( from puppy, easiest dog in the world), a chocolate Lab (darling Rolo) and now Molly (much-loved, spur-of-the-moment gumtree puppy buy - yes I know....)
We have lots of lovely places for off-lead walks around here - the sea, rivers, forest and the South Downs and I’m so enjoying having lots of time to spend with Molly. Currently we’re doing quite a lot of KC rally type stuff but I’ve just got a large exercise ball with a view to trying treibball. I’m also hoping to qualify as a trainer with the IMDT later in the year.
