Hello there,

Just to introduce myself and my two doggie friends, Buddy and Skye, we have had Buddy from a pup but Skye was a rehomed dog who ironically has the same birth date as Buddy, 18th May, but he was born in 2012 and she was born two years later. They are both yellow labs. Budddy has a lot of joint problems and like other people on here I am always looking for anything that might help him and hear other peoples experiences with their dogs.

Hello Penny and a big welcome from me and my two . My little dog has joint issues , we rehomed her five years ago from a home where she was crated far too much . The ortho surgeon who saw the Xrays we had done remarked that he wouldnt know where to start , two hips and two knees and so conservative management was recommended . I have her on YuMove which has been a massive help , her limps reduced and now after about four years on the tablets, she very rarely has issues and can scamper around with the best of them ! I also give her Golden Paste ( ready made from Amazon ) thanks to a recommendation from @Jacqui-S , this has also helped her and the two can be given together x

Hi Penny and welcome from me and Lilly from Fife in Scotlandshire!
Lilly has just had her 12th birthday and had a diagnosis of bilateral hip dysplasia at under a year old. She is a bit creaky these days and has slowed down a bit, but we manage her without a lot of meds.
As Kate said above, YouMove Plus, and golden paste, along with paracetamol is holding her right now.
Neither codeine nor tramadol were that good for her and we saw no response to cartrophen.
She still manages a good hoolie and leaps through the waves on the beach, so all still good 😊

Hi Penny, welcome to the forum from Fred, Annie and me from here in Cheshire.

Hi Penny, welcome from me and Rourke, born 2011, he has quite severe arthritis and tendonitis and I am not thinking of Stem Cell replacement therapy. The operative word being 'thinking'.

Hi Penny and welcome from Hunter and his personal monkey butler. Hunter already had elbow issues at 14 weeks. Yumove extra and golden paste with a dash of green lipped mussel is our standard
We had to go the Librela route as his limping has got worse. It works for Hunter and helps his quality of life. Our vet told us that movement is critical because cartlidge is like a sponge. If you stop using it, it wil dry out and deteriorate. After summer finishes we will try the hydrotherapy on the treadmill again. For now he is at the beach every Sunday. I think the hardest part is stopping him being a looney with other dogs.

Hi Loraseal, yes, it's interesting to hear from someone else whose dog had elbow problems at 14 weeks. Buddy did but we didn't realise, you're not expecting it in a puppy that age, it was when he went to training classes they picked up on it. He has never had any cartilege in his joints so his bones must have been rubbing together all his life, I just feel so sad for him cos he's never had a truly normal life. He has Synoquin supplement and Hills Prescription j/d food which is what they said to give him at Cambridge Veterinary Hospital but I'm never sure if they've ever really done any good. He enjoys himself at the park we take him to every day with Skye our other lab then you don't hear anything from him (except when there's grub), he's laid out in the garden sunbathing.
