We had Holly's weekly review today.

The good news is that the heart infection seems to have cleared up. We agreed to keep her on the strong antibiotics for another week to be absolutely sure as we don't want it to come back. She's also more interested in playing - she flew out the French window and shot across the garden this morning to get to a ball but had no energy left for the game.

The bad news is that her heart is racing again, just like when she was first diagnosed. This appointment was just before she was due her next batch of pills so it could be that the previous pill was wearing off. We're meeting again next week at the same time to see if the racing heart is because she was due her next pill or just a on-off occurrence.

The 'iffy'news is that she seems to peak out at about a 20 minute walk, after which her breathing becomes more laboured. The aim is to get the right balance of heart drugs to increase her walks. This could take several months and the outcome is far from clear at the moment. We can only hope.

Meanwhile she's showing signs of separation anxiety if one of us goes out. We discussed this with the vet and are going to have to start re-training her for being left alone for short periods.

Our mindset is trying to find what she can do. She's happy in the car so we're going to try a short trip to Mallards Pike tomorrow - a gentle walk around the lake and stop for a coffee. If this works we're thinking of a short shopping trip to Hereford. There's a lovely park by the leisure centre where Holly and I can wait while Ruth nips into town. I'll find a nice bench and Holly can sit and sniff the breeze.
