This morning we took Holly for a drive, but not to see the bum man! We went to Mallards Pike for a walk around the lake, then stopped for a coffee and flapjack. She loved it. Her tail was up and wagging all the way around, and she was all over the place sniffing everything. She even had a short dip in the upper pond. Best of all she didn't seem breathless after a 30 minute walk. It was wonderful to see.20220916_111809.jpg20220916_105519.jpg

After her super day on Friday the last few days have been less good. She's been a lot less enthusiastic about things, as if she's going through the motions without her usual enthusiasm. She'd stand in a puddle because its what she does, but theres been non of the usual splashing around.
Some of her behaviour is changing, for example she usually gets up for a scratch and a roll during the night and gets up with the sun, but the last few nights she's slept through to breakfast. She's also become very clingy, wanting to know where we are and being worried if one of us goes out.
I think a new 'normal' is starting to emerge, but only time will tell.

The vet told us that it might take a few months to find the new normal so I guess we’re going to have good days and bad days. The current plan is weekly meetings with the vet every Thursday. Expensive but necessary.
Holly’s not paid much attention to the weather but she does like to vary her walks. She gets bored if she keeps going to the same place, which was one of the motivations behind her books. She‘s been going around the local fields and streets a lot recently so perhaps we should take her to some of her old haunts for short walks.
