Holly

The new normal seems to be working well for you all. I’m glad Holly’s got you trained not to sit at your desk for too long!

Holly's been walking quite well for a while so today we did something different. We took her into Hereford.
The walk from the Leisure Centre into the town is about is about 25 minutes (with sniff stops) across parks and the Cathederal green. We walked this route into town to give Holly some enjoyable exercise. Holly and I stopped in a very dog friendly cafe near the Cathederal and had a coffee while Ruth went shopping. The staff gave her a couple of treats while I sipped my coffee. After a short while Ruth joined us for lunch, then we walked back across the parks to the car.
Holly took it all in her stride. No panting or heavy breathing. I think she really enjoyed going somewhere different and saying hello to a few people and dogs. She had a snooze when we got home but doesn't seem to have been affected by this longer trip.
(If any of you visit Hereford the cafe is called 'Pollys' and they love dogs).

Holly had a checkup today.
She's been stable for the month since her last checkup. Her at-rest breathing seems to have settled at 30, and her heart at 100 with occasional missed beats. This seems to be the new normal, which is infinitely better than her condition 3 months ago. The vet seems pleased with how she’s responded to the drug regime.
She’s currently at or near the maximum doses for her current drugs which gives little wriggle-room if/when things change. For now we’re just grateful that she’s enjoying a good quality of life and for the extra time we can have with her.
We celebrated with a short walk around the park and a trip to Coffi Lab, a very dog friendly cafe in Monmouth. Holly was fussed by several customers and helped us with our cakes.
