How did you choose your dog’s name?

Harvey is named after the six foot (6 foot 3 1/2 inches tall, to be precise) invisible rabbit from the film Harvey. One of my favourite films. Harvey the rabbit is a puca, a “benign but mischievous creature from Celtic mythology”. From when we first saw Harv, clambering over his litter mates to get to us, it seemed to suit him. 😆

Simba was named by his first owner, who was my son’s girlfriend. She was from an African country (can’t remember which one) and of course Simba is the word for “lion” in some African languages. So I’m not sure if that was the connection, because of his golden-coloured eyes, or whether she just liked Lion King, lol.
I was all set to rename him but OH said no, thinking it would be too much for him to have a new name on top of new everything else. I was doubtful about that, but oh well. Simba it is!
I still think it’s a more appropriate cat’s name, though |(

We had a huge list written by my OH, son and myself but finalized it to 3 names. I wanted Cooper! We went to a petshop to buy teddy as my son wanted to give it to the puppy on our first visit. My son wanted to sleep with it for a few days so that it had his scent. We obviously started looking at other things and then we saw a mega expensive brown leather basket and the make was Hunter! Hunter was in the top 3 names in our list! Puppy Hunter was given the Kong Teddy Bear on our first visit.
