How dog walks can become deadly when the heat rises

Thanks for sharing this Cath. I honestly think a lot of the problem stems from people not understanding that dogs don't regulate their body temperature like humans do.
I was only wondering yesterday how people with assistance dogs manage in these high temps we are having.
Of course, I'd like to think that on here we are already "in the know" but I guess any tips we can pick up are useful for us.

Just been pondering on this article as I’ve been walking Red. Surely it should be instinctive that you would not walk your dog once a certain temperature has been reached? I just can’t understand how anyone would not know what is appropriate.

I walked even earlier this morning and it felt airless at 18 degrees. I took water with me - I don’t usually. It’s going to be 32 today so that’s the walk done. We’ll have to have a very brief walk this evening under the trees - to do what is necessary

Its not scorchio up here but I just haven't been walking Lilly apart from 6am walks (and that's not every day). i was sweating and exhausted after cutting the grass, fairly sedately, yesterday afternoon. I was going to go down the park yesterday evening after tea, but when she toddled through panting a bit, it was a definite No.
