Just recently , Reuben has howled in his sleep , a real primeval type of wolf like howl , he usually wakes himself up looking confused

Poppy very clearly has nightmares and whines and cries in her sleep sometimes.. If I wake her up, she grumbles and moans and clearly tries to tell me all about her dream!
Yes both the boys do it. Moo did it and it was weird and scary.

Yes, Rourke has done this, it is scary, I rushed downstairs to see if he was alright. Dogs do dream so wonder if they are lost in the dream or having a nightmare.Just recently , Reuben has howled in his sleep , a real primeval type of wolf like howl , he usually wakes himself up looking confused

Carbon doesn't. I think he's too busy dreaming of food, so he makes those munching/suckling noises. My old lady pitbull, Mama Jodhi, made all sorts of weird noises and facial expressions when she slept. Used to say she looked like she was possessed.

Harley howls from time to time as well as growling, running, gruffing and panting at times. She’s woken herself up quite a few times!

Apparently I howl in my sleep! In my dreams, I’m trying to scream. Last night someone was lighting a fire on the mountain. It was blowing a gale and I had to scream really loudly so that someone would hear and help me stop him. My poor husband!! He says it sounds like I’m howling. Sounds soft at first and builds up to a crescendo. He knows not to touch me when I’m “howling” cos then my dream has the perpetrator attacking me! So he just says, “You're howling.” That wakes me up immediately! With profuse apologies! I usually have these nightmares when I’m too hot.

Yes, Becca does this quite a lot and if I talk quietly to her she stops. It's a very blood curdling noise. Once when I had Oliver he started howling like that for the first time. It was during the night and he was downstairs, I thought someone was trying to break in. My daughter had the same thought and we met on the landing, she was wielding a hockey stick to defend us all. Poor Oliver wondered what all the fuss was about when we got downstairs. We did have a good laugh about it afterwards.

I have noticed that Hunter howls more at night just after his Librela injection. I have also noticed increased howling is linked to his painkillers too. During the day he mostly makes those quiet loveworthy barks in parallel with the moving paw pads. I could watch and listen to that all day if I could!

Last night I was woken by the noise of banging (not firework type!) as if someone was trying to break in by breaking the door. I decided to go down to investigate as it was going on and on. I comforted myself with the fact that if someone was trying to break in, Rourke would be barking. I nervously and slowly opened the door and there was Rourke on his back obviously having the most amazing dream and bashing his legs against the walls, how the noise didn't wake him up I will never know! Not sure which is worse, him howling or knocking!

GGJ has Fast Dog Dreams ( squeaking and paws twitching as if running Veryvery fast) and Fierce Dog Dreams (squeaky growling and twitching as if being Veryvery fierce). Both are quite hilarious
( particularly the fierce ones because she so much isn't) and neither seems to be really distressing her so I just chuckle and let her get on with it.

You’re all welcome to click the laugh emoticon!! When my husband imitates me, we laugh uproariously. woo wooo Woooo WOOOOOO!! It’s just a dream. I feel nothing untoward after I wake up. Just bad that I startled my husband awake. But I blame him for wanting a hotter bedroom than what I find comfortable. He gets cold overnight. I get boiling hot. And that usually triggers a howling nightmare!!
