Wow, maybe I don’t have to mix it with wet food thenHope all goes well with lovely Hugo. I've heard of people finding poisons here too. So despicable. Chewie was given activated charcoal at the vet once. Apparently he nommed it up.![]()

So awful, I just can’t believe there are people out there with such ill intentions to such innocent loving creatures. But I’ve learned to be extra cautious and while I know Hugo loves the dog park so much, I’m going to avoid taking him for awhileSorry Kelsey that you had all that worry but it seems you made the right decision -- it's awful that people would leave poison treats. How very sad
Looks like you had a great evening though!
That is so awful, I’m so glad they have both pulled through!A couple of people I know had their gundogs poisoned recently though eating rat poison possibly via poisoned meat - there are reports of meat being dropped in the big dog park in Douglas, but these 2 would have picked it up in the woods/fields. They are both recovering but one is 12 and it's really taken it's toll on him, he's retired now. The other one is only 4 I think and has bounced back.
Glad Hugo is OK & enjoys his charcoal. What a cutie with all that black on his nose![]()
What a relief! Luckily you saw what Hugo had eaten and he’s now fine.Running around playing while me and my friend had a campfire, you wouldn’t have even known anything had happened to him today. He was as happy and playful as he always is thank goodness.
I actually thought he was just sniffing the post because he always has to lift his leg and leave a message for his friends there, but when he didn’t move when I opened the gate I instantly looked down and saw it, thank goodness he didn’t manage to eat them all up or else I never would have known! What a relief! Luckily you saw what Hugo had eaten and he’s now fine.![]()
Oh my, that is so incredibly scary! Yes, thank goodness for the miracle of vomit! So glad Hugo is doing well after his vomit adventure, poor baby.
My two cents is the same as what everyone else has said: inducing vomiting was absolutely the right call. If it was poison, waiting to observe could have had much more dire results than the risks posed by the induced vomiting.
Carbon ate rat poison once and the vet told me I would not have even seen anything, he just would have been quietly either dead or with irreparable organ damage.
So I’m all for the miracle of vomit, as weird as that may sound!
Oh I can’t even imagine the messWhen I had to give Snowie activated charcoal, I mixed it with a raw egg, chicken, and sweet potato. It bound into a nice lump and I hand-fed it. It wasn’t messy at all.
The mess that did occur was in my husband’s bag! He put the packet of activated charcoal given to us at the vet into his bag and it opened in his bag (perhaps I should say, his man bag!). Shame, that was a mess to clean out, all over his phone and earbuds/headset.
Oh wow! But thank goodness for the messy stuff, life savingWe were given powdered charcoal. It was SUCH a mess. Just spooning it into a bowl to mix with food, a cloud of black dust went everywhere.
