If you have the Puppy Blues, you might want to read this

Good days and not so good days , but try to write off the not so good ones as normal , because that's what they are ! Reuben had been an angel for the last few days, but this morning his inner demon has emerged , typical when we are meeting my sister for lunch and she is not a dog fan ! You are doing fine @Georgesmum , and I`m so glad you found us x
Yes indeed to the good days and bad days, we had a good night last night, I’ve started setting alarms for feeds in the day and wees in the night, managed to get another week off work which will help enormously, we’re off to a friends school playground later to introduce him to the racket kids make in a middle school lol, that should be fun 😮😳
Ohhh perfect timing for a doggy demon lol, good luck 😊👍🏻
Thankyou by the way for your kind words, I’m so glad I found you all, I was seriously considering the ‘other’ option 😰 and that would have sent me spiralling towards the other black dog that no one wants to see

That sounds good! Our kind of girl would you say @snowbunny ,@HAH et al?
By the way have I told you all about the time Cassie, aged 9 weeks, drank a whole glass of white wine when I fell asleep?

I have? Oh I do apologise , I do repeat myself these days...……....:giggl::giggl:
Haha my Greyhound stuck her face into my glass of brandy once, omg she regretted it very soon after, and she slept like a log for hours 😂😂
My son tells me off for repeating myself all the time, I’ve got noone else to tell lol so I tell him (again & again & possibly a few more agains)

Well, today George met a cat bigger than him!! Haha his face was a picture, he got bopped on the nose for getting too close but didn’t frighten him or anything, he just kept his distance.
We’re off to school in a bit 😊

He won’t wee apart from at home? Will he grow out of that?? I had to come home from my sons friends house to let him have a wee!

Have fun at the school! He might find the noise and activity quite full on, I know Kipper did the first time I took him near a school at chucking out time :) Short visits might work best for you an him, or he might LOVE the attention :dug:

With the weeing, I don't think it's a bad thing for now; if he's already regulating himself it's only going to help with building duration. If you haven't already, maybe think about introducing a word that you say in a bright, upbeat way when he does a wee - our breeder used 'puddles!' and for the first 3-4 months we had Kipper we felt prize eejits standing in the garden and happily saying 'Puddles!' every time Kipper did a wee. But man alive, it worked after a while and it's been so useful - on car journeys when you need to take him out for a quick break, before going into the vets, at dog training...the list is endless.

Yep. And at this point, you want to make sure you only say your cue when he is weeing, not before in order to coax him into it - he doesn't understand what you're saying and the more you repeat it without anything happening, the less effective the pairing will be. What you want is to build up the association between the cue and the act of weeing, which means saying it at the same time as he's going for now. This means that some time down the line you'll be able to say your word and he'll have paired that word with weeing. I hope that makes sense?

Loads of sense, thanks, might have to pick a different word then 😊

Ok, here’s another one. I’d like to know if you think I’m being unreasonable or not really😳
I have a sofa bed in my dining room which I see as my space to be honest and I don’t really want George on it until
A) he’s properly housetrained and no risk of him peeing on it
B) he stops leaping up and biting me!
C) there’s less chance of him eating my cushions and anything that I may have left on it!

The leaping up on it and biting me is the main reason because I kind of think of being allowed on the sofa as a luxury for him, and if he can’t behave himself then he can’t sit on it? Does this make any sense??
The launching at me and biting is a new thing, and to be honest it’s really getting to me a bit, he knows now what no means and he just keeps on doing it even if I say it quite loud 😕
Currently standing in the kitchen with him yowling at the stair gate because I won’t let him in the dining room to sit on the sofa!
