sorry - not very forum savy so just did picture first to see if it works.
This is Cola - my new little boy. he is now 9 weeks (+few days) and has been with me for about 10 days - but the first week was so exhausting that I didn't have time to post! - he couldn't be left for a minute without screaming unless he was fast asleep - which makes looking after another 4 dogs and on your own - quite hard. But he has settled in now quite a bit.
I have been doing lots of "crate training" with him and he now likes his crate - will often choose to settle in it nicely during the day (door open) - except when it is a bit hot in which case he prefers to sprawl out on the floor, which is fine.
But unless he is ready for a nap, then he def. does not want to be in the crate - which is fine in the house - I don't want him to be - But, now I'm looking to get him out in the van and I want to be able to put him in the crate at the back - for only short periods, but they might not be when he is sleepy! - I have had several sessions where I feed him in the van crate and we just sit - and as long as he is eating he is fine - and then he wants out! I have been out with him in a small soft puppy crate in the front with me and if he is ready to sleep, then he does sleep and everything is OK but if not, then he def wants out. - any ideas for really long lasting chews for a puppy would be welcome !!!
How do I introduce him to the idea that its OK to be in the crate for short periods of time - even when not sleeping? what do other people do? My last puppy was so laid back that she was easy, but Cola is much more lively (which is lovely!) but - any ideas to help with van crate travel? - please - I need to get him out and about and we are out in the sticks, so need to use the van to go anywhere with him.
