Is there a second teething phase?

Cassie was a very bitey pup. Then suddenly it stopped and the cuts and bruises healed. Now she is back in bitey mode - either mouthing hands or scarily jumping up and biting at our arms. She has lost 3 of 4 canines but when she bites on her chew toys she mostly targets the back teeth so I assume they are the most painful. She is 6 months old.
We are doing the usual stuff - redirects, frozen kongs etc. Any experience with how long this stage lasts??? I am totally lost as we barely noticed teething in our old lab.

Yes there is! And it’s quite a surprise if you haven’t experienced it before isn’t it? We’ve had this with Stilton, and man he was a chewer - whereas Kipper (on reflection) was very light. It went on longer for Stilton because he then developed ear problems, so I’d assume for normal development, it’ll be until his adult teeth are through then should fade. Maybe check with the vet?

So the silly monkey just went out for bedtime wee and chewed a stick. The stick got wedged across her upper jaw. Cue prizing open her jaw, using a torch to see where it was stuck and eventually flipping it out. At one point I thought we were off to the emergency vets but thankfully we managed it. Having a stiff cup of tea now as we sit with her so she can relax before bed.

You’re certainly having the puppy adventures lately! I’m glad others weighed on Bitey Phase #2 and that it’s normal, if a pain in the backside.

Once again grateful that my Spanish gentleman was already over the crocopup phase by the time I met him. Of course he still eats poop at nearly 10 years old, so I get to see a little of his former puppy self that way. 😉
