It's that time of year again

This is my main concern, I can’t imagine they’re that robust given what they are. Neo hasn’t destroyed any of his beds (yet!) but he has been known to have a little nibble on the corner when the mood takes him.
Rory is weird he tried to eat a washing machine. He jaw is very powerful and he likes to eat all kinds of stuff. Strange stuff. I would never dare use lick mats either he wouldn't lick he would eat.

I was walking Carbon in the morning and it was already 32C
This was one of the reasons we didn’t take Red to the Vendée. When the sun was out, it was seriously hot 🥵. Surfaces were scorching. I was amazed at how many dogs were around during the hot part of the day. I’d have been a neurotic mess about her. I walked Red very early this morning and it felt hot then

We have two cooling mats in our carpeted bedroom. Snowie sleeps on them part of the night. On and off, moves all night, our bed, his bed, mats. They’re fantastic. We’ve had these ones about 8 years!! They do heat up after about 5-10 mins. But cool down as soon as he moves off them. It’s a chemical reaction—crystals draw heat as they melt from body heat, but once melted they get warm. Recrystallise when the heat source (dog’s body) is removed.

We had a cool mat @Parodius when Kipper was little, ~ 6 months. He scratched it as he was getting comfy and the covering split, which made it unuseable. It was cheap but I don’t think I’d bother again as it was such a fleeting benefit.

It's not too bad here - but even yesterday at 15C I thought it a bit warm for Coco's 5 Chuck-it fetches. The sun was out and no wind. Today it was a similar temperature, perhaps a degree cooler but overcast and he did have his 5 Chucks after his walk. It's really rather pleasant.

people leave their dogs in cars
I just don't understand this in any weather, never mind on a hot day.

Here, his lordship is working on his nest building technique in our freezing house. He mounds up the duvets and pillows on our bed into the biggest pile he can and then flings himself down on top of it with a sigh. That and following the sun around the sunroom all morning, then into the backyard.

There is a very large sign in the harbour car park saying that the Harbour Commission reserves the right to break into any car where dogs have been left, regardless of windows being open for them , and I have witnessed them doing this along with local police , its just cruel to leave them x
Years ago, some dogs were left in a hot car, at a large dog show, for at least an hour, parking wardens covering the car with their coats to keep the sun out. Police told and would do nothing apart from putting a message out for the owner to return. We found a hammer, police constable said not to use it, but a chap just grabbed it and did! Owner was angry when he got back and found broken glass everywhere. I wrote to RSPCA and the dog show organisers and offered to be a witness on the side of the chap who broke the window.
