Almost four months old , can you believe it ? Where does the time go, it doesn't seem so long since we went to see him at four weeks old . My ethos is to focus on what he has learned , and not what he hasn't yet learned , he is still very much a baby but I also believe in training , fun based and short sessions . One of my FB friends sent me a message , saying that she thought I was expecting too much of my " fur baby " , how wrong she is , my expectations are not set high , and as such I expect things to go wrong , but love it when they don't ! Reuben is a delight , a proper mischief maker but very loving and affectionate , he now sleeps for at least eight hours every night , without accidents . He asks to go out during the day time , adores the garden , especially practicing his digging skills ! He sits well when asked , the stay is a work in progress ! I have him off lead most days , for around 20 minutes to half an hour and is pretty good, most of the time ! He has a tendency to go deaf from time to time , must have been listening to Nelly ! But, if he does ignore me when I call , he does soon come back thank goodness . Poor love was terrified last night when our very close by village pub had a massive firework display , he hid under the bed , and yet this afternoon he heard shot for the first time and had no adverse reaction , just lifted his head and looked to where the sound came from . He is manic in the mornings , totally manic , but a short ten minute run calms him down . He and Nelly play a lot, although she is a little under the weather at the moment , so we play ball retrieve in the hallway so that he doesn't bother her . He loves other dogs , meeting friends most days , and greets quite politely . Its hard work , and I am no spring chicken , but he is worth every minute, bless him and no doubt we have harder work ahead when I will be tearing my hair out or rocking in a corner !
