Snowie got the kennel cough vaccine as a puppy. And then got kennel cough. He’s not had it again—he’s now 8 yo. I don’t see the point of it. Apparently there are so many strains of kennel cough, it’s impossible to vaccinate against them all. The most important thing is to keep your dog healthy so that his immune system fights the kennel cough—which I understand is airborne, your dog doesn’t need direct contact with a dog to catch it. Snowie was at an all-time low in terms of health when he got kennel cough and he was no doubt vulnerable to any infection at the time.

It is interesting that they can get kennel cough even though vaccinated, I didn't realise that and it makes you wonder what the point is but if they do get it without being immunised it would probably be a lot worse. Like our flu jab I guess, so many strains of it.
It's just like our flu jab.
No idea whether it is changed periodically, like the human flu jag which is changed every year.
I guess it might reduce the severity of an individual attack, and also create some hard immunity.
Lilly isn't allowed it because of her Lupus, Oreo has to have it because she goes to the kennels with Soph.
