Kipper’s poorly

Tonight we had my mum’s lab over with my mum and sister, and it seems that when Kipper and Jambo were playing in the garden (I didn’t see it) Kipper got a bang at his tail end and has been really uncomfortable since - restless, licking lips, occasional stretching, pulling in his tummy. His abdomen is soft with no bubbling, there’s no obvious intense sore spots along his tail but he’s not moving it much. I’ve spoken to the emergency vet who’s not overly worried - she mentioned possible pancreatitis but suggested half a paracetamol and to bring him in tomorrow if no major improvement. So it might be two things going on - a banged tail, and onset of abdominal pain. Poor mite, he’s sleeping now but I’m everso fretful. First time I’ve seen him really uncomfortable :(

I’m hunkered down in a sleeping bag next to him in the sitting room so he can stretch out rather than sleep in his crate tonight; poor thing keeps shifting around, v uncomfy. At least I can stroke him.

Poor kipper. Hopefully they just bumped into each other and he’s just a bit tender. He’s lucky to have you sleeping beside him!

I’m curious why pancreatitis was offered as a possible reason. Is he susceptible to pancreatitis? Seems a drastic conclusion.

I hope he’s feeling better today. And that you both managed to get some sleep. Maybe he just pulled something from hectic playing?

Thanks gang - he had an uncomfortable night, shifting around lots and his little tail is still limp and a bit skewiff this morning. He’s a little brighter but clearly not right; dejected, slow, and uncomfortable round the abdomen/back end. He’s very licky too. @M.F. I was suprised at that but I think it was the stretching, discomfort and I mentioned a loose poo he did earlier in the day - she named it as one possible thing, I guess fairly quick presentation alongside symptoms (?).
So vets this morning and I’ll keep you posted...
