All I can think of is the word "horrible" over and over and over. Like all of us, I was so hoping the other two dogs may have gotten out. That poor man. The pups are free now but he is left with a big empty space. I don't know how you recover from something like that.

You are a brave woman and wonderful friend to have spent the day with him doing such a heartbreaking job. I hope you're doing as well as possible yourself this evening?

Oh my word. What a devastating task. I’m so sorry he lost all his dogs in such a frightening way.

I have just caught up with the tragic news, the merest comfort could be that smoke kills in seconds so that they would have died from that and not being burnt. Poor Alan will find this very difficult to get through, I weep for him. It must have been traumatic for you as well looking for the fragment of bones. I am deeply sorry.
