How is Red today
Thank you for asking Cath. A bit of a disturbed night. I have slept downstairs the last two nights near her. The first night she wanted to go out once but last night it was 4 times. She only had one wee so I concluded she was in discomfort - the daily pain relief had probably worn off. It poured with rain in the night so a bit grim stood outside. She is also probably very hungry as she can only have wet food a little and often. We have the first follow up at the vets this afternoon.

It’s disheartening when you’ve cared for her teeth so well to still have dental issues
Yes she has now lost 7 teeth - 4 a few years ago and 3 recently. I find this shocking

All that anticipation can take a toll on us humans!
Yes I am fortunate in that I can focus on her

Poor wee girlie - at least she has a good nurse in you xx
I hope the vet is pleased with her progress and maybe Red can have a little more to eat and perhaps more pain relief so she can start to feel more comfortable xx

First follow up appointment and all as it should be at this point. Red has had her usual walks today and she can have her normal tea as long as I soak the kibble part of it.

i mentioned my sadness at the loss of seven teeth and the vet nurse said ‘Out of 42 in total, 7 isn‘t too bad’ which is one way of looking at it. She also said she’s had a Labrador in who only has 4 teeth but manages to eat kibble ok, although he probably inhales it.

Second follow up is next Saturday

Yeah, I guess that’s the glass half full point of view, but it doesn’t help you feel better in the moment. 🥺

They do seem to get along surprisingly well after tooth loss, even a significant one. Long story which I’ve told on the forum before, but my pittie girl Jodhi lost nearly all her teeth at 8 years old. Lived to 16 without a single issue eating. Dogs are amazing! 🥰
