Just as an update, we have started a different steroid (Medroxyprednisolone) at quite a high dose along with high dose Vitamin B3 (nicotinamide) the latter having anti-inflammatory properties.
Even after one dose on Thursday she has a right drouth and been emptying her water bowl repeatedly. Friday morning I'm sure she was peeing for a full 3 minutes on the first blade of grass she found on our early walk.
Going to have a phone review after 10 days.
Think I will pop in and get her weighed weekly this time. I'm hoping we can tolerate the steroids long enough to get the nose settled and the nicotinamide might then keep it at bay.
Time will tell.

Being uninsured now the alternative of the £100/mth for the cyclosporin (bought online not at the vet) is an expensive option but if it's needed it's needed. It was £65 for a month of the new steroids and £100 for a consult and 2 weeks of antibiotics. We wouldn't have claimed even if insured for the later, though would have for the £700+ derm vet visit/biopsy. Just sharing the cost info as I know it varies country to country and might be of interest.

Bless her heart x I remember when Sam was on the same steroid for his Lymphoma , he was also drinking and peeing for the world . I am thinking of you all , and hoping that dear Lilly will improve very soon xx

Hell, it is horribly expensive, but there is no option is there @Jacqui-S , you have to try everything to get your lovely girl right.

We went through every option available when BJ (previous lab) was diagnosed with epilepsy - short of witchcraft - and I swear I would have tried that if there had been any chance it would have helped him.
He was not insured and the various diagnostic procedures and subsequent treatments cost a fortune, BUT there was no choice.

Fingers firmly crossed for Lilly, bless her.

Hugs and licks to Lilly and hope she gets better soon.

Hopefully this new works and makes her better. It is a pain going through different scenarios to try an figure out what will make them better, when all you want is for them to be back to normal as quickly as possible

Hopefully, if you throw everything at it and treat aggressively now, you can break the cycle, allow her nose to heal then work on maintaining an anti-inflammatory response.

The nose is definitely improving but she is losing weight on the steroids. And her fur is coming out in handfuls which isn't normal for a spring shed. Bald patches on her back legs too, though started before the steroids.

Phoning the vet on Tuesday again for a review. Think she wanted to see us back in a few weeks too.
Hoping we can eventually settle on a dose of steroids tat she can tolerate better.

Thanks for asking x
