I’m sure everyone can understand why I am FREAKING out right now. I have found a lump on Hugo’s back, an inch or so off to the side of his spine, I’ll post a photo for reference. I phoned the vet instantly and they are fitting us in tomorrow morning at 9:30. The receptionist who has been there forever, met Axel as a puppy and was there the day I said Goodbye 💔 Anyways, she said it’s quite normal for puppies to develop a lump where the injection site was a week or so after the injection, which was exactly a week yesterday, and the spot where it is she said is typically where they get their vaccines, and he did get his first set in that area. It feels deep, like I have to grab his excess skin and pull it away from his body to be able to feel the whole round lump. But it’s very noticeable when petting him. Size of a large marble. It definitely wasn’t there yesterday, or I guess least not to the size it is now and maybe that’s why I didn’t notice it.

Dr Google tells me it’s most common to happen with the rabies vaccine, which he did get last week. So, I’m trying to calm myself down, but in the mean time… have any of your puppies/dogs developed a marble sized lump after vaccines?

It’s about where this red circle is.

Hugo had a small reaction to the one he got the day I got him from the breeder, but it was small like a piece of grain. This one is big and round and firm. Moo’s was too?

Neo got a lump after one of his injections too, we were told it would settle down after a few days and sure enough it did. Can’t remember which injection it was though.

Was it quite big? The size is what’s shocking me the most at this point 😢

Ok thank you, trying hard!

Now wondering if I should cancel the appt and see if it settles in size in a few days and if it doesn’t then book. Or even reschedule for early next week

It’s totally understandable that you’d be worried. What a sweetheart he is. If it helps at all, Carbón also had a lump exactly like this last year. I completely freaked out and despite the vet assuring me it was from his rabies injection, humoured me with a needle biopsy. I swear the thing disappeared entirely the very next day and the needle biopsy was negative, but I don’t regret having it done because it bought me 100% peace of mind. I hope you have equal peace of mind after your vet appointment .
