Maxx has a limp :(

So much going on for you! I wish your Dad a speedy recovery.

For Maxx, I’d recommend a physio assessment rather than a vet. I hope it’s nothing, just a temporary sore leg from carting pot plants around the house! Many people find success with homemade turmeric paste for arthritic pain. I take a teaspoon daily and so does Snowie. It’s a good anti-inflammatory.

Tumeric golden paste is a natural way to reduce swelling. Hunter's daily supplements. You can make it or buy it. I make it and use organic products. I also mix it with his salmon oil.
I make it in a batch and freeze it in pots so it keeps longer.
Sorry you are so worried. X

Maxx has seen the vet and he thinks it is a minor sprain because it isn't bothering him that much and he is still active and wants to play and bounce. He has anti-inflammatory tablets and is only allowed a 5 minute on-lead walk each day for a couple of weeks. And no bouncing or jumping. Right. An active, energetic 3 year old lab. We are in for an interesting time! I will be scouring the thread about how to occupy your dog when on limited activities.

Steve said he was SO well behaved. After initially bouncing all over Nurse Caroline, he sat quietly and let Dr Julian feel all through his paws, pull his legs etc. The lesions are back on his groin area too so the poor petal is in the wars. He spat his first tablet out so we had to wrap it in a big slice of leftover sirloin steak to get it down.

We are so relieved it is (hopefully) something minor. His weight is steady at 42 kilos but with reduced activity comes reduced food and the looks we are getting would melt an iceberg :'(

Thanks again for all of your help and advice. Maxx says 'fanks' too.

Hey @Lab_adore - this is good news, although I can image 5 mins on-lead exercise is weighing on your minds a bit... the trouble (as you know) is that if he’s on anti-inflammatories he won’t feel any trouble so can do more damage, so keeping him (relatively) quiet matters, but is tricky. Hopefully you’ll find he might surprise you - with Kipper he adjusted really quickly and soon learned to settle with reduced exercise, which amazed both of us. More sniffy games are good as they take more brain power, plus ‘new’ games as they also need more concentration.
it sounds like he did so well at the vets, what an utter superstar your Maxx is ❤

Good news about your dad 😀

I find lick mats or hiding food around the house if really good. You could also train things such as all paws in a box, sitting in a box or large bowl or something. Hope Maxx’s leg is better soon x
