Merlin under the weather

OH took Merlin to the vet yesterday for another antibiotic injection, and she said while he is clearly on the mend, he does still have gas in his belly. So it's more baby food and diarrhea paste (which he is eating because he is so hungry, poor boy), and another vet check up and antibiotic jab tomorrow morning. AND the ear story is still ongoing as well.

Thinking about it, he has been doing the most disgusting stinky farts for the last couple of weeks. If I were to do a fart chart with a 1-10 scale a la poo chart, they would be right up there at about a 9. Maybe that was the result of the bacteria already working their way around in his gut.

Ho hum, another big vet bill incoming... BUT I am so grateful that we have a wonderful vet and that the surgery is literally around the corner from us. So no complaints here. And anyway, this face is worth it:

Poor Merlin. Snowie had a long run of bad diarrhea several years ago. The vet called it Garbage Eating Disease. Took 3 months to resolve. Kefir seemed to do the trick.

Re your scale, I think we definitely need to see a pic! 2.5 out of 10 would be very bad in my books. While 8/10 would be good.

Hooray, hooray! Merlin got a clean bill of health at the vets today!!! Tummy all good, and ears totally cleared up as well!!! She agreed that he probably had the bacteria in his gut for weeks if not months, no wonder he sometimes was a bit funny about his food... He has lost quite a bit of weight and weighed 35.6 kilos today, down from over 38 kgs a couple of months ago. He looks good though - I think we will try to keep him at between 36 and 37 kilos, as it is best for his hips for him to be on the slim side.

He was such a good boy; although clearly worried by being at the vets again he still jumped up onto the table when asked, and although he was shaking and trembling he let the vet palpate his stomach and stick the camera thing down his ears. I was really proud of him.

Now he is snoozing next to me on the couch. My good Merlin-Man, lots of fuss and attention and love for you today!
