Thank you. I think he is the most handsome dog ever, but I may be a leeeeetle bit biased...OMG, Merlin is sooooo handsome @MellowYellow. Those eyes, the nose, the crinkles over the eyes. What a dreamboat.
Exactly - acceptance is a huge part of being able to deal with things better. However, I have to add that sometimes I am still made terribly sad when I think of all he'll be missing out on... but everyone is right, he doesn't think he's missing out on anything, that is just in my head!!!For us the acceptance of the condition was the key to moving forward. It is lovely to read the progress and it helps other people to realise that it is not the end of the world when the health diagnosis is not as expected.

It's different for each dog, some can swim all day with no effects. With Merlin, he can crash around in shallow water for hours, it really is the swimming that does him no good. I should only let him do 2-3 retrieves out of water, maximum. He does have that funny bump in his tail, and I think that is the weak point. He's more cheerful now, the painkillers are doing their job.Poor Merlin. Hope he gets better soon.
Thing is, how do you know what's too much swimming?
