Molly wants her own small boy

Well, we've had some of the family here today including 2 boys aged 9 and 5 (who don't have a dog of their own) and oh boy has Molly enjoyed them.

They've both had a lot of licky/sniffy attention, then she started to fetch all her balls and throw toys to offer to them as encouragement to play. At first they were both a bit anxious and unsure if she is safe, despite reassurance from their parents. Unfortunately they have heard on the news about the boy in the caravan in Cornwall - I'm sure you all know what I'm referring to - and it has scared them.

Molly is persistence and patience on 4 legs and after a while the eldest boy started to throw or kick the ball for her, a smile appearing on his face when she bought it back to him. Eventually both boys were playing with her and although not totally confident they were far more at ease than at first.

They had to leave a short time ago and Molly was watching through the gate with a little whimper. Then she turned to me and the OH - both well past our prime - and with sigh wandered back to the garden.

I've no doubt the next 'plaything' Molls would like is not a ball, Kong or tuggy, but a fully charged boy :giggl: She is, at the moment though, completely zonked !

Aww, how lovely is this ! Sam adored little ones and Reuben does too , I love to see children and dogs together playing or just messing around , well done to Molly ! xx
The death of the child was at a holiday park not far from us , just horrendous and a sad reminder never to leave a child and a dog alone . So pleased that Molly had a great time, bless her !

No worries, I mentioned it first and you are quite right, it was an horrendous thing, beyond imagining.

As OH said when we heard it. though Molly is a sweetheart daft loving lab, we would NEVER leave any child alone with her. As @Jacqui-S says, what was going on, no one will ever know.

Having said all that, yes Molly had a great day and I think she helped a couple of children realise a dog can be fun, and a friend.

Homer adores children and they adore him. They love each other’s eagerness to engage and play ball.

From when I very first heard the story of the child in Cornwall I suspected something wasn’t quite right.
