Not that they recommended waking them, it was just an involuntary reaction from me.

Same here, my instinct is to reach out and comfort her. It works, she calms down while I stroke her.

Sorry to hear this is a bit of a concern @kateincornwall. As others have said, hopefully it's simple and just a different phase of sleep; I'd be mildly reassured he's not showing any other seizure type symptoms like wetting himself or biting his tongue, but a video will hopefully help clear it up.

This is my instinct too, but I've learnt to curb it as it always gives Kipper the heebyjeebies
