I posted about my friend Sandy losing his Newfie, Casey a little while back.

Well, this pup, potential name Reader after a mutual friend of ours, will be coming home with him on Tuesday!

Yeah, it's lovely.... but silver is never a great idea. Hopefully he won't have any issues, but dilutes often have skin problems :/

Ah, didn’t realise it’s the same issue in Newfies as in labs. Fingers crossed for them then.

As a rule stay away from merles or dilutes. White dogs can have issues too with skin and deafness.

Same with cats. I forget the details, but something about the gene in cats for white fur also carries the gene for deafness.
