Nail trimming

Thanks @Natalie. That thread is very useful. I think I need to come up with a clear plan (Dremel vs clippers, location/position and a step by step protocol). Looking at all the threads, it does seem to come down to a large extent to the dog in question. My previous dog hated having her claws cut but I think that was because she hated having her legs touched as she had been subjected to so many examinations due to her elbow issues.
I have a tendency to change my mind halfway through these processes as I am never sure of the best approach so will write down a plan and stick with it. I started seeing if she would let me touch her paws yesterday - after a few goes I was able to pick up each front paw so will continue to work on that while I get my plan sorted. I’ve been looking at a new Dremel - there is a supposedly quiet one for pets on Amazon that might be worth a go - I do like the slower/take less off approach of the Dremel vs clippers.

Hugo was impossible, he would run anytime he saw the clippers, wouldn’t let me touch his paws. At the vet he was too excited and would barrel roll trying to kiss everyone to death, even with sedation on board 🤦🏼‍♀️ 😅. I ended up buying a lick mat and smeared peanut butter on it and that solved all of my issues! I still use a lick mat but I can also do it without now if need be. Now when he sees the clippers he lifts his paw for me 💙
