Yes, keep biting your tongue, preferably letting the call go to the answerphone. He’s not doing himself any favours by contacting you but withholding the number. Then give the times of the calls to the police. You really don’t need this, Kate.
So pleased to hear Nelly is doing better. One day at a time.
It would be useful to get advice on how to handle any calls from them. Perhaps ask the police? I guess asking a lawyer will be costly. The end goal is to have them pay full costs plus damages. Plus prevent them from owning or having a dangerous dog.

The very last thing you need is calls from the husband. What on earth can be his motivation to call? You said the right thing and now there is nothing else to say. As others have said log each call and report to the police. She had her chance to do the right thing at the time. I hope the financial burden is sorted so you don’t have that worry and I’m so pleased that Nelly is doing better

She had a really good nights sleep bless her, tucked up under my arm . I took her cone off yesterday as she is swathed in bandages and vert wrap and cant get at her wound and, for the first time , she ate her usual dog food topped with a salmon and veggie mix I make for them , ate the lot ! We are back at the Vets this morning to check on the wound and her temperature .How is Nelly this morning Kate
The Police rang me yesterday evening to say that they have been to the owners home and issued a restriction on the dog . It has to be on a short lead and wear a muzzle when out of their property and that failure to comply will see them in court and most likely a destruction order placed on the dog . The officer was lovely and very sympathetic , he had spoken to our Vets and seen photos of the injuries ( I had given my permission for them to share info with police) . So , thats that , I feel a little appeased , a bit of justice for Nelly xxx Thank you for asking xx

If nothing else is going to be done by the police, I would take them to the court and make a claim, but this must
be up to you and no one else Of course there is always the local newspaper, Local dog breeder and dog attack.

Such a relief to read that Nelly's appetite has returned. Also pleased to read the policeman was kind and a restriction order placed on the dog, however, I still believe they should be ordered to pay vet fees.

I posted a photo on my FB page, of the horrendous wound . It is covered by a warning of graphic content so I cant post it on here as it is just too damned awful to see . However , the wound is clean and free of infection , Sue is hopeful of closing the wound next week . There was a small flap of skin that was hanging down so Sue stitched it to the existing skin and our little darling just sat there with no so much as a whimper but lots of treats . It is very upsetting to see the wound every day but in herself , Nelly is bright and quite chipper , back at the Vets on Friday xx

Splendid news that Nelly has eaten her usual breakfast, she needs all that good food to help her wounds heal.
Also really good news that the police officer has dealt so well with this and seemingly done all he can.
Here's hoping that the owners comply with the restrictions placed upon them and no other dog or person gets so horrifically attacked.

I know it's horrible to see but the wound looks clean and hopefully can be closed as soon as it's safe to do so. I do glad she's doing so well. She's one hell of a dog 
That picture was truly shocking, I cannot believe the damage that was done to our sweet little Nelly. But so glad she’s chipper and eating well again, the wound looks like it’s healing super well, she is a tough little cookie. My heart goes out to you all, you’ve been so strong for her I hope you have some better sleeps knowing you’ve got some justice for your girl

I have all the evidence needed to take the owners to court for non payment of our ffees which currently stand at well over 4K and then Nellys surgery plus any ongoing treatment . We are paying the fees as we go but I dont see why they should get away with it . Distress has now been over taken by anger , I truly want them to suffer and thats not like me at all xx
