Nisha and Talía (Negreta and Lulú).... a journey.

Can anyone else access your land without one (or multiple) dogs kicking up a fuss that you would hear?
With Nisha, not a fricking chance :giggl: . She starts barking as soon as we open our front door, or a car pulls up, or a hunter walks anywhere near. I can hear them clearly when they do bark, they're not far from the house. I also now recognise different barks, such as "where's my lunch" vs "J has arrived home" vs "STRANGE DOG ALERT".

I just went over to give them lunch, a chicken back each. Talia was back to her smiling, bouncy self, Nisha still quiet. I put Nisha’s on a rock and left her alone. From outside, I watched her pick it up and carry it around a bit, then she took it to one of her holes (she loves to dig), put it in there and the started to push the dirt over it with her nose.
OMG, I’ve never seen a dog bury an actual bone before! 😂

Hope both girls are soon better. I wonder if Nisha will dig her bone up and eat it when she gets her appetite back?
Probably not.

When we first got Simba, I had to leave him outside in the yard while I went to work as I couldn’t trust him in the house. I came home from work at lunch and he was sitting on the deck, pleased as punch, absolutely COVERED in mud from head to toe. He had spent the morning HAPPILY digging up all the bones that my previous dog, a Border Collie, had buried (hadn’t realized there were so many 😮). I’m sure Simba thought it was the best day ever.

At any rate, I think if the dog is well-fed he won’t go back to a buried bone. It’s just a natural impulse some dogs have but if they don’t really need it, they won’t go back. Just a very unscientific opinion based on an experience of one dog, mind you! 😀

They're all back to normal now! It was funny at lunchtime yesterday. I put Nisha's chicken back down on a rock and then Talia's on a lickimat. Nisha grabbed hers, then ran over to me (she doesn't normally get that close) and grabbed Talia's, too! Yup, she was definitely feeling better! Happily, she couldn't quite manage them both in her little mouth, so she dropped one and Talia didn't go hungry :)
