Nisha and Talía (Negreta and Lulú).... a journey.

Only just seen this thread, I looked for it when I saw your facebook post so I'm a bit late but am so glad you are doing this, they are such lucky dogs ❤
I hope they can settle in and know happiness and I look forward to more piccies and updates

A little update here; I've posted a couple of times in the group, but I'm never short of things to say, as you know, and FB isn't the best medium for that.

Nisha and Talia (we've decided to adjust the pronunciation so it's now said as an English person would pronounce it, rather than Spanish, just because that's what kept slipping out :D ) are continuing to settle in, and I've started introducing the clicker so I can do some little bits of training with them, to help give them some agency.
When we go over to their enclosure, they run towards the gate with obvious expectation, ears pricked forwards, but they're too fearful to stay there, so run off again as we get closer. Nisha stands back, barking at us :D

They are both LOVING their food, which is awesome, and their poos are nice and firm. They're inquisitive but scared of us; will approach within a few feet at times, but will run off at any movement from us. They are getting more confident following me as I walk around, though; earlier on I was putting out a kibble trail before leaving and Nisha followed me around the whole way, ignoring the kibble but barking at my back. That said, I think that they appreciate the time we're spending with them, and Talia has started howling when we leave!!!

This is certainly going to be a long journey, so we're back focussing on things we can do to make the kennels more comfortable for them - it was a bit of a rush job getting it to where it is now, and although it's better than what they had, we want to make it more comfortable for them for the winter. I need to look up heat pad solutions; I'm sure they'll appreciate that over the colder months.

Sounds really quite exciting. What I love most is that they’re vocalizing and it sounds like that’s one of their principal ways to engage with you at the moment - and you get that, it’s not just ‘grr, they keep shouting at me!’ or anything like that. You get it, and it’s just so blimmin promising where this might lead for all of you. You are ace 🙌
