No walks for Nelly today

I`ve been everso vigilant , with the current heatwave but she was a little distressed yesterday evening . Yes I took her to the river , but it was much cooler following the thunderstorm but then she has got lots of thick fur . I`ve lopped off a fair bit but she doesn't have an undercoat , so I don't want to expose her skin so have to be mindful , and I keep popping her into the sink with cool water . She didn't go to school this morning, its far too hot even at 8.45 a.m. and I wont take her out at all . Just keeping a watchful eye on her, for the heavy panting that she was doing last night, it was quite awful , poor little thing x

Poor Nelly, it's so very hot but you have been careful and doing the right thing for her keeping her cool and no walks which won't do her any harm.

I was out at 7.30 am this morning, took water for Hattie and still it was getting hot. Like Nelly Hattie has a lot of thick fur and an undercoat. xx

Oh it's horrid when it's too hot for them. We walk early and late, in the woods only, where there is water for them to cool down. Poppy feels the heat more than Merlin - her fur is thicker and of course she is older. Poor Nelly, I hope she is doing better today Kate, I am sure you are extremely careful with her. xxx

Poor old Bear is feeling the heat most. He got really tired this morning but still had his little paddle in the stream. He is sleeping now but I think I might get up really early tomorrow for the morning walk.

We won't be going out today its just too hot. We'll play games in the house and garden when it's cooler. He's just lying on the tiles all floppy

We haven't done walks all weekend (feels like 42C). In the evenings Quinn and her weekend guest (yellow lab) have been going out for a play in the field once it's dark out. They are getting cabin fever, but it's too hot to even sit out with a cold drink for more than a few minutes for us. I even feel like swimming at the lake is too hot, since they run around outside the water quite a bit, and the car is crazy hot, even with AC blasting.

Hope Nellie is feeling ok today and not distressed by the heat.

Pepper isn’t impressed that he hasn’t had a walk and isn’t allowed to lie in the sun in the garden. He had zoomies indoors after his lunch just to remind us he’s full of energy.
