Cassie is currently spending a week in N.I, we found a lovely dog friendly cottage between the Mourne Mountains and Carlingford Lough.
My son is working over here as a lorry driver, and he is coming tomorrow for a couple of days R and R. I can't wait to see Cassie s greeting !
It's very much home from home, but I have a friend with me and it's great to have so much time to chew the fat and catch up with everything.

The ferry crossing was very smooth Sonia. A bit ironic as we had to take a later sailing than booked as the earlier one was cancelled due to weather !

Yesterday afternoon was clearer and bright weather than it has been and we went out to the Silent Valley via parts of various "scenic routes" in the Mournes themselves.
My word, how truly stunning they are ! Most disappointingly the camera on my phone was doing its thing which is meant to help and doesn't so I don't have any photos , except this one.


Silent Valley is the site of a huge reservoir supplying Belfast, a ground breaking (literally) feat of engineering carried out in the early 20th century.
The visitor area is "Watertown" the community where 2000 workers lived in houses like this.

A great afternoon out followed by fish and chips in a fish restaurant recommended by a local person and then home to await arrival of my son Cassie overjoyed !

A good find just a couple of miles away from the cottage is Mourne Park, a large expanse of woodland recently acquired by the Woodland Trust in which they have established some walks.
Very pretty indeed, mostly beech with a lot of sweet chestnut too



The River is White Water, a very lovely game River, I met a young man fishing for salmon and indeed my son saw one jump.



I don't know what it is about bridges but Cass loves them!
She spent several happy minutes running to and fro across this series of them, my funny girl
