Not feeling ruff but found a lump!

On his lip? On the inside?
As I’m sure you’ve read most lumps are nothing to worry about, even though you need the vet to confirm that. Dogs can grow a surprising number of lumpy things that might look suspicious but actually turn out to be fine. Fingers crossed that the Vet will say “it’s only a [insert name of harmless lump here]”.

Oh, worry, worry. It’s probably just a bite or a grass seed or something innocuous but they do seem to like worrying us!

It’s on the saggy lip part (technical term ?). I was going to wait until his kennel cough vaccine on Tuesday afternoon thinking that’s what hubby would say. He surprised my when he said, oh I don’t like the look of that and want him seen sooner. That’s what made me worry more.
I've just been to the vet too, Poppy (who is six now) is starting to get a few warty growths... One is growing on her eyelid. I take her in for the vet to have a look at every single one... better safe than sorry, is my maxim. Fingers crossed it's nothing.
I’m thinking maybe grass seed too. Fingers crossed it’s something simple, don’t they just like to give us a worry at times. Bless em.
Oh I know who you are now Karen, you have another lab too. I agree, better to get any lumps checked out for sure. Is the eyelid one bothersome to Poppy? Definitely better safe than sorry.

Obi has had three lumps over the past year (he’s 6 now). One under his chin (was a wart and it went away), one on the top of his head (was a sebaceous cyst that he eventually scratched off and now I struggle to find it) and the third is a tiny lump on the rim of his lower left eyelid that’s also a sebaceous cyst type of thing. We went to the vet for all of them but no action was needed in any of these cases. Of course I worried about and googled the heck out of them all!!!
A lump on the lip might be a wart (papilloma virus) which the vet should be able to easily diagnose. When Obi had the chin wart the Vet poked a needle in it to get some cells (ie Fine Needle Aspiration) which she looked at under the microscope.

Donna I hope the lump is nothing to worry about, but worry you will. Hattie is almost 11 years old and she has 3 lumps that I am keeping an eye on but I take her to the vet for every one I find. Not taking any chances with my girl. Good luck at the vets. xxx

Simba has had a few lumps that have come and gone. Good to get them checked, though.

Thanks for asking, no it's not bothersome to her at all, it's very tiny. The vet says it's fine for now, just an innocuous wart, but if it grows too big and disturbs her eye then we'll have to have it removed.

Thank you all for your kind replies. Dexter was a good boy at the vets, hubby took him and the vet had a good look at the lump. It doesn’t seem to be bothering Dexter and doesn’t have a head so she is ruling out a sting for now. No idea what it is but has given anti inflammatory and antibiotics and will see him again next Saturday unless anything crops up in the mean time. He also had his kennel cough up his nose. Holding up a dried fish skin above his nose is great for keeping his attention while vet squirts the drug ? then Dexter gets the treat straight after. I will try to get a photo so we can keep a record of this lump.
It’s so lovely when the vets calmly speak and reassure him. He did try to sit a couple of times when his temperature was being taken but stood back up when hubby said stand. Such a good boy.

Yes hopefully it clears up. Hubby is in charge of the antibiotic as we have to give 3/4 of a tablet and I’m highly allergic to penicillin. I’m not taking any chances with crushing it up ?Oh, that's good news!
