Well we had our vet appointment. He does have a eye infection in both eyes, so we got drops for that.
Then I was able to chat a bit about Axel’s heart condition. This was the emergency vet, not our regular vet so I figured it was good to get a second opinion on his heart murmur... His usual vet claims he couldn’t hear the murmur, and I do trust him, but wanted to know if someone else could hear it. Anyways, this vet listened really good and couldn’t hear it at all. She said if we hadn’t had the ECHO we may never have even known he had this, which is exactly what our vet said as well. She said there isn’t really anything to do in the mean time, just have to do our yearly ECHOs and if at any time he develops a cough, or heavy pant that is new to him, then to bring him in straight away.
So I guess what I am taking away from that is, Pattington did develop a cough several days before he passed so that was a sign that something wasn’t right. So I will just try my best to move forward and if I notice a cough, or unusual pant I will bring him in right away.
Side note, I have never had to give Axel eye drops before so I get home and was like ... Whelp... might as well give this a whirl. So I start shaking the drops and instantly he sat down in front of me. I think he thought it was for his ears. Anyways, one drop in, good as gold, ok off to a great start, second eye, good as gold again! No flinching, no needing to hold him what so ever. Ah, this boy

I’ve never had a dog/cat that has let me do what I need to do, so I feel so spoilt with Axel and so great full for his patience. But the real test will be when I have to give him his next dose in the morning
