Oddy is in need of some Lambies

He is gorgeous! That’s a huge bonus for the vet to be able to contact the owners through WhatsApp and very reassuring for you too. The owners must be so relieved that you’re there to look after him. i hope he’s back to being boisterous soon!

Yes, very reassuring and yes they are happy I am here.
Haha yes ! I cannot wait for the boisterous Oddy to return! There are signs this morning that he is on the way back , I am glad to say.
The vet will be ringing me first thing, to decide on any necessary followup, I suspect she'll want to recheck bloods etc. And we need to get him eating, my feelings are that he needs tempting now with tasty things but I will run that past her.

So I took him in for the vet who saw him on Saturday to re assess him for follow up and repeat bloods. There's no real signs of a blockage - he pooed normally this morning - and no indication of kidney issues.
My thoughts are that this to do with his diet and gut health - I did a bit of searching yesterday, I know Google isn't always our friend but I like to think I am discerning enough not to jump to conclusions. What I did learn was the importance of differentiating between vomiting and regurgitation, something those of you with experience of dogs with digestive issues will know about I'm sure. And Oddy was most definitely regurgitating - undigested food coming back out and no heaving, therefore not coming from his stomach. To my mind he eats a lot of grass, while to some degree it's normal behaviour and the old adage that they do it when feeling unwell is not necessary so, it did seem excessive. But then, he's an excessive kind of boy! Even so, there is some evidence suggesting it can be connected to gut health.
So I made the vet aware of these things (no mention of Google) suggesting that he could do with something to tempt his appetite given that he rejected his kibble last night, and I came home with a tray of tins of Hills Prescription diet. I really hopes this helps him turn the corner, he's also on Omeprezole which may or not be a good thing.
Cass and I have come home now as my son and his OH are there for a few days, so he will be in good hands.

Sounds really good he's improving. It's very hard with gastric stuff. I use omeprezole with Rory and have used it to manage his gastric pain for a few years now. I've had to vary the dose over the years he's very comfortable on one 20mg a day now, but he also has pro fibre in the mornings. I have to limit fat in his diet and he's not allowed chicken grain and eggs. He so well now he's really struggled in the past. His old vet was really suspicious of his stomach spincter and he's had bloat a few times but we managed to avoid surgery. He really had terrible pain and often ate things like grass due to this, it's been hard. Hopefully Oddy will improve now and things settle for him.

The worst bit was trying to judge how ill he was on Friday, harder with a dog you don't live with all the time, and contacting the vets at the right time. Come Saturday morning I was very relieved that we already had appointment with the vet. Once she had spoken to the owners from the consulting room and they could make decisions it wasn't so worrying, I just had to pick him up and monitor him at home which I was quite comfortable with.
Being able to tell them each day that he was improving even incrementally was really good, and I know they are grateful.

Oddy not progressing so well today, started bringing stuff back up again so he's going in for x-ray and possible scoping this afternoon or tomorrow morning

Oh dear, poor Oddy and poor you for the worry.
I wonder if he's got an intestinal blockage of some sort. Solstice had similar symptoms once and the vet found a 14cm 'rope' of twisted grass inside her. Once it was removed she recovered well. I do hope the investigations show something similarly easily treated.
