Off on my travels again.

Only five days now until my friend Karen and I fly out to Istanbul for a week! I've always wanted to go and so am really excited. Karen's husband, Dave is staying at my place to look after Joy and Lucie, their Patterdale. Joy has been a bit scared of Lucie, not understanding that when she growls it's because she wants to play. Last weekend we had a bit of a dummy run, with the three of them coming to stay for a couple of nights and lots of walks together. It went pretty well. Every time Lucie growled Joy just turned away from her, just as if she was ignoring bad behaviour :speaktothehand: and eventually the growling stopped indoors. Then on our final walk Lucie started becoming quite protective of Joy when other dogs approached. We arrived at the field where we were taking them for a run and as soon as Lucie was off lead she started growling for Joy to chase her. Joy must have had enough by this stage because she had a bit of a snappy growl back and Lucie backed down. The next thing we knew they were having a great game of chase round the field with no growling whatsoever!:tail::dug::happyfeet::snowangel::celebrate: We had also gone out for a meal one night and left them alone together and there were no signs of any problems, so we're quite optimistic. They're both sweet natured dogs, it's just that they kind of speak different languages.
We also now have three camping trips planned for the summer. Joy of course will come on these. She's never been camping before and I'm so much looking forward to introducing her to it. I'm sure she'll take to it like a..... well, like a Labrador to water!:cancan: Then at the end of September/beginning of October there's another holiday in Turkey, this time with my brother, sister-in-law and her brother and sister and their partners. Oh yes! Joy and I are also invited to stay with a friend in Norfolk for a week in March! I love it when I have lots of travelling to look forward to!:monkey:
Anyone else got anything exciting planned?

Sounds like a fantastic year of travel coming up @Candy
My OH is off to Portugal for a week in March to play golf, so I’m taking Harley to our daughter in Plymouth for a few days. I’m away in Majorca for a long weekend in April with my friends, Harley will be home with my OH. In the summer we are planning on going away in the camper for a few long weekends, but not sure where yet.
Then finally, I’m away (with my OH this time) in Rhodes for my birthday in October. Harley will be spending the week with my daughter 😀

I’m going to New York next week to stay with my lovely daughter, where I get to be “German Grandma” to her dog, Alto. OH is staying behind to look after P&M. Then at Easter we’re traveling to the UK, with dogs, for a big family party (brother’s 50th). In July we are going to be in the Alps hiking for a couple of weeks, then a long weekend somewhere nice for my birthday in August... I love thinking ahead to our travel plans, the anticipation is almost as good as the holidays!

I have a week's holiday in a little cottage in the middle of nowhere to look forward to in May. J is having a crappy time with work, and I'm so busy and quite stressed, so it will be amazing to be somewhere where neither of us can do any work, and we just get to enjoy the dogs and do some reading. Maybe the odd glass of something, because, well, it's a holiday :)

I'm so excited for you @Candy! I'd love to go to Istanbul. You guys are so lucky to have so many wonderful and exciting countries on your doorstep.

I am so excited about our European/ Moroccan trip. We've been planning it for 2 years and it's turning my work life upside down to make sure I'm employed before and after. Still totally worth it though :D

Sounds great @Joy! We have a week booked off in March, but not decided where to go. Likely somewhere hot for a quick all-inclusive (maybe Dominican Republic) or might go to Florida which I'm lobbying to drive so Quinn can come.
